Diana Wynne Jones

Nevermind, No bed yet. Also, everyone in Sounis (including Meghan) is like in love with this lady. I tried Howl's Moving Castle but I wasn't too impressed. Am I too old to appreciate? Should I start with a different book by her?

(The quote is good though, agreed.)

Oh gosh I love her. Try the Chrestomanci books. Or Dark Lord of Derkholm and Year of the Griffin. The last two especially are more complex. (I never thought so many plot threads could be resolved so well. I totally get why she and MWT appreciate each other.)

She's definitely not epic fantasy, though. More like irreverant, optimistic fantasy. But she's funny and light reading and she will never fail to make me laugh when I'm reading one of her books.
