Melina Marchetta

I know some people have a thirty page rule. I wish they didn’t. I’d like to think there are so many wonderful surprises on page 31 of someone’s story. I’d like to think that the first line of a novel doesn’t make sense if you haven’t read the last.

I have no idea who this lady is, but I think this quote is adorable, and I agree.

OH. MY. GOSH. Let's just say that she and MWT (and maybe Ellen Emerson White) are in a little competition for the best writers writing today. She's that good. She's definitely very, very different than MWT, but check out her books. She won the 2008 Printz Award for this book called Jellicoe Road. It is so, so heartwrenchingly incredible. (Look up blog reviews for her books. You will find fangirl gushing.)
